The ability to communicate effectively is essential to living a healthy and happy life. In fact, some theorists believe that, schmoose is the primary goal of human existence (Adler & Rodman, 2012, p. 11). In addition to conveying our need and desires, communication also reveals how we frame ourselves and perceive others. Therefore, it is important to understand how and why we assign these identities to avoid falsely labeling ourselves and others. According to Abraham Maslow we communicate to meet a rank of human need (Wood, 2010, p. 11). Maslow argued that our inescapably can be yard in one of five ways: physical, safety, belonging, self-esteem, and self-actualization. To fulfill these of necessity we start with are most basic physical necessarily before moving on to safety, belonging, and self-esteem. Once these basic needfully ar e met, we allow ourselves to devote resources to achieving self-actualization. During a weekend attempt trip in Park Rapids, I monitored the communication that I used to fulfill these needs. I noticed these interactions were intrapersonal as hale as interpersonal.
